Sixty years ago today – February 1, 1960 – four African American college students answered these universal questions with an emphatic, β€œYes.” And America began to change.

Joseph McNeil. Franklin McCain. Ezell Blair Jr. David Richmond. Their ages ranged from 17 to 19.

They had enough of segregation. Of degradation. Of discrimination. Of exasperation. They wanted to sit down to eat at a lunch counter, so they did. And America began to change.

Today, February 1, 2020 is the 60th anniversary of a day that transformed America. Today, February 1, 2020 is the 60th anniversary of a day that transformed my life. Today, February 1, 2020, take a moment to learn about and rejoice in these four American heroes who changed America for the better. In doing so, they put us on our path to becoming Freedom Riders.
